Ja Morant

This blog is about social media etiquette and why it really matters, especially when you are a public figure. Social media etiquette basically means thinking before you post, being smart about what you share, and understanding that anything you put online can affect your future. The blog talks about what happened with Ja Morant when he went on Instagram Live and showed a firearm. The video spread really fast, and a lot of people were upset because he is a role model. Because of that, he got in trouble and was suspended, and it hurt his reputation. This shows how one bad decision online can turn into a big problem in real life.

The blog also explains how the situation could have been avoided if he made better choices and thought about the consequences first. It talks about how he could fix the situation by apologizing, taking responsibility, and showing that he learned from it over time. It also gives examples of better things he could have posted instead, like basketball content or positive messages. At the end, it explains what I would do if I were in the same situation or if a friend were, like staying calm, owning up to the mistake, and learning from it. Overall, the main idea is that social media is powerful, and you always need to think before you post because your actions can have real consequences.

  1. This is the first post that mentions protecting your reputation as to what Social Media Etiquette is. Even though weapons are not illegal how you use and show them could be seen negatively especially from a large fan base. Not everyone endorses the use of firearms and showing one during a live event could give the wrong impression especially while driving and not a firing range.

  2. One thing that stood out about your post, is how you gave alternative examples of things Ja Morant could have posted that would have ben better for his career and reputation. This situation shows how being careless on social media can have lasting consequences.

  3. I really liked your "What Would I Do?" section on Slide 8. The emphasis on taking an honest break from social media to learn from mistakes is a very practical and mature approach to reputation management.
